Let There Be Light

We blinked, and June just disappeared! For us, it was a month full of work and home improvements. We are exhausted, but not burnt out. We have sleepless nights (thinking about paint colors, appliances, and fixtures), followed by long laborious days (learning how to install, repair, and remodel). I'm using the pronoun "we", but I should technically be using the proper noun"Ian".

Over the last few weeks, my husband has blown me away. Ian researches and reads (a lot), then he plans and executes our home projects beautifully! He normally does things in a quick, fast-paced manner (err.. like vacuuming), but with these projects, he has slowed down and paid more attention to the details.

In the next week, I'll be posting some of our progress. But for now, let's start with our very fist order of business - the front yard.

Immediately after closing, my parents came to Charlotte. They brought with them a chainsaw. They gave the chainsaw to Ian. And that boy went lumberjack happy. Our front yard was definitely an overgrown forest, but with the help of my family (and the chainsaw), we now have light hitting our lawn! With the loss of ten small trees, we have more sunshine and, unfortunately, more stumps! (And don't you worry, Ian has been researching tree stump removal)
