Open Sesame

After chopping down trees, we decided to the leave the lawn alone. Currently, we have a very low maintenance yard. It's covered with pine needle mulch. Grass will be in our future, but for now we are pushing landscaping plans down the list; we can revamp our curb appeal next year.

We need to focus on remodeling the inside.

We wanted a garage, and we got one with a broken opener. I told Ian we need to fix this immediately!  There is no way I can manually open and close that heavy wooden garage door. I need a remote/button to push!

So with a little help from my dad, Ian installed a new garage opener. It's so quiet and has awesome features - like connecting to an app on our phone to show if the door is closed or open when we aren't home! Also, Ian saved us a $200 installation fee by completing this project himself.

While I'd love a brand new garage door (one without windows), that is just not in our budget now. But it's been added to the "one day" list.

I thought this installation would take two hours. Four hours later, we were in business. I've learned that ALL our projects take at least twice as long as planned.

I love my mom and her OCD cleaning habits :)
