Finding Fixtures

I spent an insane amount of time shopping for our kitchen overhead light. After removing the existing fluorescent light (that was giving our kitchen a hospital-ish feel), we had the ceiling painted. Then we waited and waited until I could make a final decision.

There are hundreds of light fixtures online. Hundreds! The reviews are so vague, as well as the pictures the manufactures post. So after much consideration, I ordered a Hinkley semi-flush mounted fixture from Wayfair. Here's the one and only picture I based my decision on...
I didn't want the fixture to steal your attention when you walked into our kitchen, so I kept it simple. It has just enough character and chrome, keeping the look sophisticated and classic.

Of course, like ALL projects, it took twice as long to install than I'd originally planned. You see Ian had everything in place, all hooked up, and then one stupid screw was just a tad wee shorter than all the rest! So he had to take it back down to find a longer screw. Grr. Oh, and we changed the bulbs twice. While it looks beautiful, I wish it gave off just a touch more light.

So for additional brightness, we found the perfect under-counter lighting at Lowe's. The panels have LED lights that dim nicely. And then for above the sink, we found a crazy good bargain at IKEA. Check it out... under-the-counter lighting does make a huge difference!

Now, I just have to be decide on fixtures for our foyer and dining room! HELP!
